Winbond announced today (16th) that the Group had been selected for the third consecutive year as one of Clarivate’s Top 100 Global Innovators 2025. The evaluation criteria for this award comprehensively covered the scale of investment by applicants, the uniqueness and leadership of their inventions, their influence on third parties, and the focus and accuracy of their patent analysis. Winbond’s continued recognition by an international evaluation institution for three consecutive years demonstrated its high-quality patent strategy and sustained R&D capabilities.
Gordon Samson, President of Clarivate’s Intellectual Property segment, stated: “The number of global inventions has increased 80-fold since 2000. In today’s rapidly evolving innovation landscape, being selected as one of the Top 100 Global Innovators is an outstanding achievement. Winbond’s patent strategy has secured its position on the list, providing robust protection for innovation in key markets.”
Winbond Group, including Winbond, Nuvoton, and Nuvoton(Japan), integrated global R&D teams to actively pursue technological innovation. Through smart manufacturing, the Group established a small-volume, high-mix production model, leveraging data science and AI technologies to continuously optimize productivity and process development. As one of the few companies worldwide with proprietary products and technologies in both memory and logic ICs, Winbond managed product design, technology development, wafer fabrication, and global marketing under its own brand, aiming to provide comprehensive IC products and solution services to customers worldwide. Over the past five years, the Group’s R&D expenditure accounted for approximately 15–23% of its consolidated revenue, with continuous increases in R&D investment, reflecting its strong commitment to R&D resources and active conversion of R&D outcomes into patents.
Winbond stated that its innovation management focused on sustainable contribution and patent quality as the core of its IP policy, while continuously deploying patents for key technologies. As R&D achievements accumulated, Winbond continued to invest in digital transformation of IP and data management, comprehensively documenting the trajectory of R&D innovation and strengthening confidential data management. In addition, Winbond passed the A-level certification of TIPS (Taiwan Intellectual Property Management System) for two consecutive years, highlighting not only its emphasis on corporate governance but also its systematic IP management aligned with operational goals.
Looking ahead, Winbond Group would continue to deepen patent and technological innovation, enhance patent quality and influence through a comprehensive IP management mechanism, and incorporate green design concepts into product development. With core competitiveness, the Group aimed to fulfill its commitment to sustainable development, actively expand global markets, and provide customers with more competitive products and solutions.
