Winbond Electronics held the first "Sustainable Supply Chain Upgrading+" forum on May 15, 2024. The ESG issue is ascending and has gradually become one of the transformative opportunities for various companies facing operational challenges. As a result, Winbond extends its persistence in strengthening the operational resilience of the supply chain at the end of 2023. In the first half of 2024, it launched “The G Power in ESG: Comprehensive ESG Management within the Supply Chain”, we collaborate with suppliers and continue to use "the major leading small to learn around the supply chain" as a growth engine for our suppliers.

As one of Winbond's strategic initiatives to execute its goal of "Being a hidden champion that enriches human life with green semiconductor technology," sustainable supply chain plays a key role in "governance" in Winbond’s sustainable development.

In 2024, we also gave our suppliers a new strategic positioning in Winbond’s net-zero campaign. We hope that suppliers can gradually build their executive structure and management approaches for sustainable development as well as strengthen the supply network, in response to new trends, such as the ability to adapt to the impact of uncertainty and various risks (climate change, economic ups and downs, geopolitics).

In terms of practical sharing on the implementation of ESG management, KYEC's sustainability management team, who won Winbond Supplier "Testing Best Quality Award" in 2023, shared its "KYEC ESG Governance Establishment Journey". In this section, KYEC shared with us how to upgrade from corporate social responsibility (CSR) to an implementation considering ESG (environment, society, governance). Finally, all participants were encouraged to engage in a discussion and brainstorming about how to overcome the difficulties and challenges that may arise from practical implementation.

At the end of the forum, Winbond's sustainable supply chain team also announced Winbond's four major supply chain sustainable governance measures and suppliers’ ESG performance which were officially launched into the regular evaluation since 2024 to establish Winbond’s supplier sustainability management system. Till the first half of 2024, suppliers have accumulated 2,252 hours of learning in the "Sustainable Supply Chain Upgrading+" forum, and the number of suppliers who have benefited has exceeded 930.

The first session in 2024 brought together 207 suppliers from raw materials, packaging and testing, photomasks, machinery equipment and maintenance services, factory engineering, transportation, and logistics. The convener of the Sustainable Supply Chain of Winbond’s ESG Committee and deputy technical director of the Supply Chain Management Center, Zhang Shu-Zheng, introduced sustainable management prospects for the new year to the suppliers. As the major learning platform of sustainable supply chain, we invited Dun & Bradstreet to present a professional lecture on "ESG Aspects of Governance under the Sustainability Era" from a theoretical perspective to guide suppliers on how to improve their organization's governance structure based on ESG dimensions.

Winbond hopes that it will not only effectively drive the transformation of supply chain management and relationships, but also expand the scope of sustainable governance influence through ESG learning.
