Advancing Water Circularity Through Intelligent Management
When data is transformed into actionable insights, it becomes a powerful driver of environmental stewardship. At Winbond, digital technologies are enabling more precise, efficient, and sustainable water management.Winbond has received the 2026 Water Sustainability – Excellence in Water Treatment Award from Taiwan's Ministry of Environment, recognizing the Company's outstanding achievements in intelligent low-carbon management, water resource circularity, and digital innovation. The award also recognizes Winbond’s achievement in reducing annual carbon emissions by approximately 740 metric tons through continuous process optimization and intelligent environmental management. This recognition affirms the Company's long-term commitment to improving manufacturing processes, strengthening environmental stewardship, and embedding sustainability into its operations.

Driving Smarter Water Management Through Digital Innovation
Winbond is committed not only to regulatory compliance but also to advancing intelligent environmental management through digital transformation.By integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Winbond's CTSP (Central Taiwan Science Park) Fab. No. 8has developed an AI-powered wastewater treatment management system that continuously monitors water quality and optimizes chemical dosing in real time. The system replaces traditional experience-based operation with data-driven decision-making, improving both operational efficiency and environmental performance.Through AI-enabled process optimization, the system consistently maintains compliant wastewater discharge while reducing annual calcium chloride consumption in the fluoride wastewater treatment process by approximately 4.5%. These improvements support source reduction, lower environmental impact, and demonstrate how intelligent manufacturing can drive sustainable operations.

Enhancing Resource Circularity to Maximize Water Value
Winbond continuously pursues opportunities to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impacts through circular resource management.
Beyond optimizing wastewater treatment processes, the Company has strengthened upstream process management by refining equipment operating parameters and discharge control mechanisms. These improvements have increased the annual recovery of concentrated recoverable waste phosphoric acid by 355 metric tons, reducing the treatment load on downstream wastewater systems while lowering chemical consumption. The initiative further improves resource utilization and reinforces Winbond's commitment to the principles of the circular economy.

Strengthening Workplace Safety Through Smart Technologies
At Winbond, environmental sustainability and employee safety are equally essential to long-term business sustainability.
To enhance operational safety, the Company has introduced Augmented Reality (AR) technology that enables employees to visualize complex equipment structures through wearable devices and perform operation training and emergency drills within a safe virtual environment.
Winbond has also deployed AI-powered image recognition to verify the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during chemical tanker loading operations, helping ensure strict compliance with safety procedures.
In addition, smart safety helmets have been introduced to provide real-time emergency protection. If personnel encounter an emergency and are unable to report the incident, the system automatically sends alerts and emergency notifications while sharing location information, enabling faster emergency response and improving rescue efficiency.

Collaborating Across the Value Chain for a Sustainable Future
As the world moves toward the 2050 net-zero emissions goal, Winbond continues to strengthen water stewardship across every stage of the product life cycle. The Company is steadily advancing initiatives to reduce freshwater withdrawal, maximize water-use efficiency, expand water recycling and reuse, and minimize wastewater pollutant discharge.
Looking ahead, Winbond will continue to advance its three strategic pillars—intelligent management, resource circularity, and low-carbon operations. Together with supply chain partners and stakeholders, Winbond remains committed to enhancing resilience to water-related risks while creating lasting value for the environment, industry, and society.
