Dedicating to realize the target of 2050 net-zero has been the critical issue not only for international covenant but only government regulations, nowadays. There are more and more enterprises set year-by-year decarbonization target to decrease the impact of manufacturing on environment, including the members from electronic information manufacturing industry. Semiconductor industry is the main contributor of electronical economy in Taiwan, also known as the role who leads to environmental externalities. As the member of semiconductor industry, Winbond has dedicated to inducing energy and greenhouse gas management to decrease the emissions of scope 1 and scope 2 actively. Regarding to scope 3 decarbonization, in addition to promote the carbon management of suppliers/ subcontractor, conducting internal green logistics system, Winbond also takes advantages of suppliers. To aggressively fulfill the sustainable requirement and green products of original manufacturing ones, Winbond applies the manufacturing characteristics both from self-made 12-inch wafer and outsourced semiconductor assembly & test to offer “Sustainable Production Operation and Planning Management” according to the cooperation, planning and forecasting basis.
Creating Sustainable Synergy through Twin-Major Approaches

Winbond decrease electricity usage and carbon emissions from supply side efficiently to satisfy the customer need under the production expansion stage through above measures. It is expected that in the end of 2026, Winbond could decrease 2,003 Ton CO2e which is equal to 50,000 trees CO2 Adsorption from outsourced process as the basis of Business as Usual (BAU). Overall, Winbond assist suppliers to strengthen green manufacturing capability and co-raise the sustainable image through planning approaches. It is sure that work together with suppliers is the only way to create the industrial co-glory and achieve the target of 2050 net-zero in a confident way.
